Home Safety Inspections

We check for proper grounding, GFCI protection in wet areas, smoke detector functionality, and other critical safety components that keep your household secure.

Chapter 01

Grounding, wet-area GFCIs, and the smoke detector overhead

A safety inspection is narrower and more practical than a full system review. It asks whether the protections in your house are actually there and actually working. Is the system grounded? Is there GFCI protection where water and power meet: kitchen, bath, laundry, garage and outdoors? Do the smoke detectors respond when tested? Those checks catch the failures that hurt people.

Houses fail these checks quietly. A three-prong outlet can be wired with no ground behind it. A GFCI can be old enough that it no longer trips. A smoke detector can sit with a dead battery and a chirp that has been silenced for a year. Nothing looks wrong, so nobody looks.

Walking the house with Justin

Pedro P wrote, "I usually don't like to hover, but Justin invited me to look at the issues with him and took the time to explain everything in great detail." That is how Justin Zimmerman walks a house. You come along, he points at what he is testing, and he tells you what the reading means.

He tests receptacles for ground and polarity, presses the test and reset buttons on GFCIs, checks the smoke detectors, and looks at the panel's grounding connection. In a Gun Barrel City home or a newer Bullard build, the order is the same, even though what he finds will differ.

Chapter 03

The fix list, in the order that matters

You leave with a short list ranked by risk. Missing GFCI protection beside a sink and a failing ground sit near the top. A cosmetic issue goes at the bottom. Nobody gets pushed into doing all of it in one visit, and nothing gets added because it was easy to sell.

Anything Justin fixes carries the five-year labor warranty, and the rest he leaves for you to schedule when it suits. To book a walkthrough, call (903) 218-3632 and ask for the safety visit. The person who answers is the master electrician who will be standing in your hallway.
