24-Hour Emergency Electrical Services

Electrical problems can occur at any time, day or night. GO 2 Electrical Service maintains 24/7 availability for emergency calls throughout Athens, TX and the surrounding areas.

Chapter 01

A warm panel cover and a dead half of the house

Some problems can wait for morning and some cannot. A burning smell near the panel, a cover that feels warm under your palm, a breaker that buzzes, or half the house dark while the other half hums along: those are the ones that cannot. Heat is the tell. Wire and terminals running hot are losing a fight with resistance, and that fight ends in a fire if nobody steps in.

A dead half of a house is its own animal. Most homes get two hot legs and a shared neutral at the panel, and when that neutral lets go, voltage drifts between the two sides. One side runs dim while the other cooks your electronics. If lights flare and fade together, shut off the main only if you can reach it safely, then call. Don't go hunting with a screwdriver.

What happens when you call at 2 a.m.

You dial (903) 218-3632 and the voice on the line is Justin Zimmerman, the owner and a master electrician. Not a call center reading from a script. He asks what you see, what you smell, which breakers have thrown, and whether anything feels warm. Then he tells you what to switch off and what to leave alone until he pulls up, in Athens or out past Brownsboro.

On arrival the first job is making the place safe, not fixing it. He isolates the circuit or the whole service, proves with a tester that dead really is dead, and checks the panel for heat discoloration at the lugs and bus. Only then does the real repair start: a failed breaker, a burned neutral, a cooked device, a damaged conductor. You see what he found before anything gets replaced.

Chapter 03

After the lights are back on

Rachel Proctor's water heater disconnect caught fire, and once that was handled she asked Justin to look over several other items, "since one close call is enough." He found an additional fire hazard and remedied it. That is how an emergency visit should end: one honest look at what else in the house is in the same shape as the thing that just failed.

For the next few days, watch the spot. A breaker that trips again, a plate that darkens, a smell that returns, or a flicker when the dryer starts all mean the cause ran deeper than the part. Call (903) 218-3632 and say so. The labor is under a five-year warranty, so a callback to Mabank or Kemp is a callback, and you aren't left guessing what's covered.
