Chapter 01
Smells, warm plates, and what the wall is telling you
Faulty wiring is one of the leading causes of house fires, and it rarely announces itself. At home it looks like a plate browned around the screw, a burning-plastic smell nobody can place, lights that dim when the AC kicks on, or outlets that die in a row. In an attic it might be a cable a mouse has stripped. Aluminum branch wiring and overheated splices belong on that list too.
Damage hides. Rodents chew insulation in crawlspaces. An old remodel can leave a splice buried behind drywall with no box around it. One overloaded splice can run warm for years and then fail on the hottest afternoon of the summer. If you can see a symptom, there is usually more wire behind it in the same condition.

New construction rough-in: open stud walls with boxes set and wire pulled
Trace it, open it, and put the splice in a box
Justin Zimmerman traces the circuit with testers first, following the symptom back to where it starts, and opens a wall or ceiling only where he has to. A splice belongs in an accessible junction box with the right connector, not wrapped in tape inside a stud bay. A damaged section gets cut out and replaced. Sometimes the whole run is the honest answer.
He tells you which it is and why. When a run is brittle, burned or chewed over most of its length, patching only adds joints, and every joint is another place for heat. Across Athens, Eustace and Tool, plenty of older homes are better served by replacing a section than by stacking a repair on top of a repair.
Chapter 03
Why patches inside walls fail
A patch hidden in a wall can't be inspected, can't be tightened, and can't be found again when it fails. That is why honest pricing and transparent work matter most in this trade: you should know exactly what needs doing, and why, before anyone cuts into drywall. Justin explains the finding, shows you the damage where it can be shown, and lets you decide.
The finished repair carries a five-year labor warranty. If you smell something hot or see a plate turning dark, switch that circuit off at the panel and call (903) 218-3632. Don't wait for the weekend, and don't cover the mark with a coat of paint. Justin would rather look at it today than rebuild the wall later.
